Programs and Events
The Ottawa Arts Council works both by funding independent programs and collaborating with partners to deliver educational programs to the community. The workshops bring together professionals and members of the community to share expertise and learn from one another.
Providing networking opportunities within the arts and supporting arts initiatives are essential to the Ottawa Arts Council. Creative Capital Exchange is one of the programs funded by the Ottawa Arts Council designed to strengthen the Ottawa Arts Community and better understand the challenges or barriers that artists and creative initiatives face within the community. The Cultural Exchange Program brings together creativity, research, and problem-solving by establishing a team of cultural ambassadors, board members and other individuals from the arts community.
The Cultural Sustainability Project explores the potential for the cultural community of artistic individuals in the Ottawa region to share one platform. Their goal is to bring together as many individuals who hope to participate in the community by delivering several public lectures, town hall consultations, and gathering resources to establish a common goal throughout disciplines.
Luck! is a public event offered at the Studio Arts Court in Ottawa. The program provides a diverse showcase of local art by visual artists where every attendant brings home a piece of art. Buying a ticket ensures that you are a winner, but the order in which the pieces are chosen is not unveiled until the night of the event. This event has been a successful fundraiser for years and an enjoyable night for many.
Along with these integral programs by the Ottawa Arts Council, there is a full calendar of local events, including public lectures, family events, children’s events, artistic workshops and other opportunities. Those who seek to become more involved in the programs at the Ottawa Arts Council are encouraged to become a member. Members can submit events, browse and apply for opportunities and utilize several Ottawa Arts Council resources.
